Office of the Executive Director

The Office of the Executive Director (OED) has central responsibility for the managerial and administrative operations for the Federal Trade Commission's headquarters and regional offices. The OED is directly responsible for managing the human resources, information and technology, financial management, administrative services, and legal document processing and records management activities for the agency.

The OED's commitment to excellence in providing quality and timely services to the agency is stated in its motto, One OED!. The OED works closely with the law enforcement bureaus and other FTC offices to ensure the efficient and effective use of agency resources through, among other things, participating in strategic planning, and assessing the management and resource implications of proposed actions. The Executive Director reports to the Chairman of the FTC, and manages five organizations. The Equal Employment Opportunity Office is also located within the OED.
