The Human Resources Management Office (HRMO) is responsible for recruitment, employee development and training, retention, workforce planning, performance management, and compensation and benefits. HRMO's activities include:

  • Recruiting and hiring attorney, economist, paralegal, technical, and administrative staff in coordination with the FTC bureaus and offices. See: Job Opportunities.

  • Implementing a systematic program to provide and improve career development opportunities and training for all staff - professional, managerial, technical, and administrative.

  • Administering learning and training activities for FTC staff to support the Commission’s vision, mission, and strategic goals as well as personal growth and development.

  • Managing a dynamic strategic workforce plan to meet changing workload requirements by maintaining an appropriate workforce mix, training, delayering, and restructuring, as appropriate.

  • Maintaining an active performance management program to inform managers about good policies and practices, and to clarify and strengthen performance elements and standards for agency positions.

  • Providing employee and managerial counseling on HR issues such as health benefits, alternative work schedules, telework, part-time employment, retirement, and federal government employment requirements.

  • Administering payroll, personnel, and time and attendance processes and systems
