The Buildings Technology Center is a national research and development laboratory that works in partnerships with private industry to develop and test emerging building technologies. As such, it is not a consumer clearinghouse. Information on consumer concerns and questions is available from many sources:

  Extensive information on home-related energy efficiency for consumers and builders, with links (under Shoppers' Corner) to sites providing information on high-performance products that give consumers the best energy deals.
• Technology Fact Sheets from DOE
  The fact sheets, available in PDF files, address a number of specific concerns home owners and builders might have, ranging from passive solar design to crawlspace insulation and improving the efficiency of your duct system. The site also has links to technical reports and other materials.
• DOE's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Network (EREN)
  A comprehensive resource on energy efficiency and renewable energy, with many links and documents. The "Consumers" link may be of special interest.
• U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) ENERGY STAR Site
  Information on products, homes, and buildings with the ENERGY STAR label.
