OGP’s Core.Gov Hosts IAB Approval Revision Process for FIPS 201

To coordinate special work groups of the Government Smart Card Interagency Advisory Board, OGP is hosting the move of the Government Smart Card Technical work group activities and interim specifications. These work groups have grown to nearly 300 of Federal Agency and Industry Partners who are working feverishly to complete technical analysis and recommendations to meet the OMB / NIST deadlines. The specifications that will result are required to address the Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD12) Policy for a Common Identification Standard for Federal Employees and Contractors. On December 16th, the full IAB which represents all Federal Agency members voted unanimously to approve their Revised Draft Input To FIPS 201 and submit it to NIST. NISTwill evaluate the input for inclusion in its publication of FIPS 201 on December 23 for request public comment. After the public comment period, FIPS 201 is scheduled for approval of the new Federal Identity Credential on February 25, 2005 by the Secretary of Commerce. CITA, Assistive Technology Day, Showcased Telecommunication Products from Plantronics, Inc. and their Clarity Division.

OGP’s Center for Information Technology Accommodation, Assistive Technology Showcase hosted an Assistive Technology Day, Thursday, December 16th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the GSA Central Office. Plantronics, Inc. and their Clarity Division provided demonstrations and information on various amplified telephones, notification systems, assistive listening devices, various wireless telephone systems and various headsets for the workplace and personal use. If you have a device that needs a headset, and yours doesn’t work, this showcase sshowed what was available. This demonstration was designed for a wide range of attendees.
