The aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk sails past the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington as Kitty Hawk returns to her homeport of San Diego one final time before being retired, Aug. 7, 2008. At 46, Kitty Hawk is the oldest active-duty warship in the Navy and will be replaced this summer by George Washington as the Navy's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier.
