At the Smithsonian we believe that being familiar with an image's context is an important part of understanding its meaning. We also believe that being culturally literate requires you to use the visual language of photography in an active, critical, and creative way.

click! photography changes everything is a series of integrated programs inviting the public to consider the ways photography enables us to see, experience, and interact with the world. The Smithsonian Photography Initiative has created the following classroom activities, aligned with National Standards, to be used in conjunction with the click! photography changes everything website.
