Joey Hawkins was elected to District 4 in May 2013 and is serving his first term.

Joey Hawkins was born in Colorado but has lived in Texas for 20 years and a resident of Denton for 11. He was the first employee of a large food franchise at the age of 16. By the age of 18, he opened his own franchise which moved him to Texas. His 14-year tenure with the franchise taught him leadership and management skills.

He and his wife Amy have 2 young children, Royal and Holiday. Joey and Amy bought Jupiter House Coffee on Denton’s beautiful, historic Downtown Square in 2007. They recently opened a bagel shop and deli named after their son, Royal’s Bagels. Both businesses help keep him connected to the community and ever changing scene of Denton.

Before being elected to City Council, Joey was very involved with Denton. The love of community and culture in Denton are the main reasons for Joey getting involved with city activities and organizations. His experience owning his own business has given him the skills to make decisions for Denton’s future as an attractive, vibrant, and unique community.
