CQ Roll Call has acquired the Federal News Service from The Dolan Co. for an undisclosed sum.

Minneapolis-based Dolan publishes Twin Cities newspapers Finance & Commerce and Politics in Minnesota as well as business and legal publications nationwide. It also stages industry events.

Selling FNS will allow the company to focus on growth of its strategic businesses, the company said.

Dolan acquired FNS in 2010.

Keith White, CQ Roll Call executive vice president and managing director, says the acquisition will give its readers access to "what policymakers say as they vote, amend, argue and more."

FNS subscribers will see no interruption in coverage, CQ Roll Call says. It will maintain the existing FNS websites along with all currently available information.

Dolan emerged from Chapter 11 in June under new ownership.

Jeff Clabaugh covers general assignment and provides business coverage for WTOP.
