The Boulder Planning Board met for seven hours Thursday on Google's plans to build a four-acre campus in the city that would have room for 1,500 employees before finally agreeing to the project.

The Daily Camera reports the meeting ended just after midnight after the board voted 5-1 to approve the project, once Google had agreed to make some changes to its plans. The Internet giant has about 340 employees spread out in Boulder and wants to consolidate its operations in the city at 30th and Pearl streets.

Google wants to build three four-story buildings in what's being called the Pearl Place development. But some members of the planning board voiced concerns that four stories might be too tall for the area. Google agreed to set back the top floor of one building by 60 feet on one side and by 30 feet on the other to make it less visible to passersby.

Plans for Pearl Place included an underground garage with 600 parking spaces, and 300 spaces for bicycles spread throughout the campus.
