Curt Schilling, Marvin Harrison among Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame inductees

The Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame is hosting its 11th annual induction ceremony Thursday night were 17 new members will be enshrined.
This year's class includes three football players — former Philadelphia Eagles Eric Allen and Bobby Walston, and Philadelphia native Marvin Harrison — and three baseball payers, former Phillies pitcher Curt Schilling and former Philadelphia A's pitchers Charles 'Chief' Bender and Herb Pennock.
Also on the list are hockey players Brian Propp, a longtime member of the Philadelphia Flyers, and goalie Michael Richter, who is from Flourtown, Pa.
Two media members also will be inducted: Broadcaster By Saam, who worked in the broadcast booth for Phillies, Eagles and Warriors games; and Frank Dolson, a longtime Philadelphia Inquirer sportswriter and columnist.
Others with strong ties to the Philadelphia to be inducted are:
• The 1972-1974 Immaculata Mighty Macs, which won the first three women's basketball national championships
• Olympic Champion and world record-holding swimmer Ellie Daniel
• World boxing champion and featherweight boxing Olympic gold medalist Meldrick Taylor
• Two-time NBA All-Star and two-time NBA Executive of the Year Geoff Petrie
• American high-jumper and 1932 Olympic gold medalist Jean Shiley
• American rower and three-time Olympic gold medalist Paul Costello
Pat Williams, a former Philadelphia 76ers general manager and 2001 inductee, will serve as master of ceremonies for the event, at the Sheraton Society Hill. StubHub is presenting sponsor of the induction ceremony.
