The Dallas Museum of Art kicks off the Arts District walk as one of the better known, longstanding attractions. Now with free admission, walking through several floors of this museum is an excursion in itself. Between the popular permanent exhibits to invigorating traveling exhibits, this leg of the walking tour ends in a beautiful gift shop and a with stop at the DMA Café.

Matisse, Picasso and other art VIPs have found the ideal home for their priceless works at the Nasher Sculpture Center. Ideal for a short, brisk stroll, the sculpture garden is just enough of the outdoors, with its elegant landscaping, enhanced by eye-catching sculptures and designs created by artists from all over the world. When on foot in the arts district, the Nasher Sculpture Center would be a shame to miss.

The Trammell Crow Center, home to the Crow Collection of Asian Art, is a unique stop on this foot journey, as it takes visitors to the other side of the world as they come through the door. With elegant and enchanting pieces of Japanese armor, Chinese scrolls and countless statues and paintings, this collection is unique and alluring. The Crow Collection also hosts events throughout the year that promote culture and art.

Home of the famous Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Meyerson Symphony Center hosts free tours within its walls that even include a demonstration on the Lay Family Organ, filling the theater with booming melodies and chords. It is no wonder that this is a frequent stop amongst visitors to the city. Tours both public and private are available. Public tours are at 1 p.m. on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays year round.

Just a few blocks over from the hub of museums and sculptures lies Klyde Warren Park, adding some green to the city’s center. Surrounded by the vibrant activities of the city and a colorful array of food trucks, this is no ordinary park. Klyde Warren Park covers nearly two blocks in length and is filled with movement from the children’s playground to the reading area to the endless variety of games like petanque and chess, and even yoga classes.
