Grab your favorite boots and a ten-gallon hat and take the kids on an exclusive walking tour of the Fort Worth Stockyards! During the tour, you’ll hear stories about the history and culture of the Stockyards as you’re directed through the many celebrated Fort Worth landmarks. Attractions include the Cowtown Coliseum (host of the world’s first indoor rodeo), the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame Museum, and Billy Bob’s Texas (the world’s largest Honky Tonk).

Self-Guided Tours
While it may be a walk through the history of Cowtown, the self-guided tour is anything but old-fashioned. You’ll get your own handheld, fully-automated GPS device and be led by your virtual tour guides, rodeo legends Bob Tallman and Pam Minick. Click here to see a sample tour.

Tours are available in English, Spanish, French, German and Japanese, so guests to our great state can participate now matter what corner of the world you’re from. Self-guided tours cost $12 and you can rent GPS devices Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday Guided Tours
If you’re looking a more old-fashioned touch, you should try one of the guided tours on Saturday (schedule below). There are two tours to choose from. During the Cowboy Walking Tour, your personal guide will walk you through the Stockyards, sharing stories, cultural notes and historical facts. The tour costs $6 for adults, $5 for Seniors and $4 for kids. During the Wrangler Walking Tour, you’ll get the same great tour of the Stockyards and be taken to the infamous Billy Bob’s Texas for only a dollar more per person.

Group Tours
If you’d like to take the whole gang on a walking tour, whether for your child’s next birthday party or just a great group outing, you can make reservations for a group tour of the Stockyards (and Billy Bob’s upon request). Prices range from $3 to $7 per person, depending on the ages of participants and the number in your group. See website for details.

Step-On Tours
If the height of a scorching Texas summer has you second-guessing your stamina, you can also hire a van, mid-sized bus, or motor coach (depending on the size of your group). Each Step-On Tour comes with a personal guide who’ll give you the same great stories, cultural notes and history of the Stockyards as the walking tour guides, but from the air-conditioned comfort of a vehicle.

Other Attractions
The Stockyards Walking Tours are a fun, educational way to spend time with your family and friends. If you don’t want the fun to end, consider combining your tour with some of these other Fort Worth Stockyards favorites: the Cattlepen Maze (a human-sized maze based on the old cattle pens of the Wild West), the Historic Stockyards Hotel (once patronized by legendary bank robbers Bonnie & Clyde), the Fort Worth Herd educational program (a demonstration by real Texas cowhands where they teach you to use the tricks and tools of the trade).
