UPDATE: Police are currently searching for David Kalac, 33, who they believe is responsible for killing a Port Orchard woman.

The victim’s gold 2001 Ford Focus was located in Oregon on Wednesday, according to KIRO. Investigators believe Kalac was driving the vehicle, but have not located the suspect.

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (CBS SEATTLE/AP) — Washington state authorities are investigating the killing of a woman found dead in her apartment by relatives after graphic photos were posted online that purport to show her body.

The images were posted to the 4Chan social sharing website before authorities learned of the death Tuesday in Port Orchard, a city west of Seattle across Puget Sound, Kitsap County sheriff’s office said. The death appears to be a homicide, sheriff’s Deputy Scott Wilson said.

Wilson said the photos appeared to have been posted anonymously on an image-sharing website just before 3 p.m. Tuesday, about a half-hour before the death was reported, the Kitsap Sun reported.

The graphic photos of a naked woman who has suffered lacerations to her neck included text captions indicating that law enforcement would know about the death once one of the woman’s relatives found her body. A relative did find and report the body, Wilson said, but he would not release that family member’s relationship to the woman who the Kitsap Sun reports is in her mid 30s.

According to NBC News, the photo captions read: “Turns out it’s way harder to strangle someone to death than it looks on the movies.”

When other 4Chan users questioned the authenticity of the pictures, which have since been deleted, a reply directed them to “check the news” for reports.

“Check the news for Port Orchard, Washington, in a few hours. Her son will be home from school soon. He’ll find her, then call the cops. I just wanted to share the pics before they find me.”

Wilson said the sheriff’s office was taking the photos seriously but was “unable to confirm whether those photographs are of this victim.”

“We do not believe this is a random assault,” he said. “We believe this person was targeted by a yet-to-be determined other person.”

Wilson added: “Any time we have images of this graphic nature that are posted on social media, and purport to be this crime scene, we are going to take those seriously. But we are unable to confirm whether those photographs are of this victim right now.”

The images appeared to have been posted before officers were called at 3:32 p.m local time (6:32 p.m. ET) on Tuesday. Officers were searching for the victim’s car, a 2001 gold four-door Ford Focus, which had vanished from the property, KING-TV reported.
