VIDEO: Marian Hossa notches 1,000th point on nice goal in Ottawa

By Chris Peters | Hockey Writer

Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa had a nice full-circle moment when he notched his 1,000th NHL point against the Ottawa Senators. Hossa broke into the league with the Sens, who drafted him 12th overall in 1997.

Hossa's 1,000th came on a nice goal from in tight when he spun around a defenseman and slipped a shot just under Senators goalie Craig Anderson.

The goal gave Chicago a 4-3 lead at that point, but it didn't last long as the Senators forced overtime with a late tying goal. The Blackhawks ended up winning the game in a shootout.

Hossa entered the game sitting at 998 points. He had an assist on Chicago's first goal scored by Jonathan Toews before adding his goal to hit the big milestone. Hossa is the 80th player in NHL history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.

It's been quite the career for Hossa. The first 390 points he scored in the NHL came in 467 games with Ottawa. He also spent time with the Atlanta Thrashers, Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins before landing with Chicago where he has won two Stanley Cups.
