VIDEO: Jacob Josefson goal ends Devils' 18-game shootout skid

By Chris Peters | Hockey Writer

The New Jersey Devils have won a shootout. We're not kidding. After having gone winless in their previous 18 tries in the skills competition, the Devils squeaked out a 2-1 victory against the Winnipeg Jets.

Devils forward Jacob Josefson was the only player to score in the game-ending penalty shots and did he ever make it count.

The quick stick work in there left Ondrej Pavelec without a prayer of stopping that effort.

The Devils' futility in the shootout was well-documented. They went 0-for-13 last season. Considering how close they came to actually making the playoffs last year, five points away, that really cost them.

New Jersey's last shootout victory was March 10, 2013. The monkey on their back was rather large.
