Beth and Becky Taylor will share their holiday favorites from their new cookbook 'Vegan Duet'. Jason Avent will present on the "lost arts" of Sprouting, Fermentation, and Canning. Learn about the health and nutritional benefits of the “good” processing of foods. Sprouting is an ancient technique for improving the nutritional content and digestibility of foods. (See Ezekiel 4:9) Fermentation is a way to create more digestible, flavorful and nutritious foods that resist spoilage.Canning is the system for preserving ready to use foods in jars (not cans) so that the surplus of one season can be consumed in the next. This class will cover means for safe canning as well as new technology for visually detecting spoilage of canned foods due to oxidation.

    Mariposas Spanish School for Kids has begun a new series of Spanish Immersion Music Workshops.  Each month will feature a different music class taught in Spanish by Roots and Rhythm followed by a themed mini Spanish class taught by the Mariposas team. "Music and Tablewear" on November 8th will focus on percussion, rhythm, and collaboration and will feature a post-workshop lesson on table manners and food vocabulary complete with a snack!     The East Sixth IBIZ District has joined their neighbors in the East End IBIZ District in the monthly 4th Friday Event with sales, specials, entertainment, happy hours, and more at a variety of spots. The public is encouraged to bike/share, walk, take CapMetro or carpool and spend the entire evening into the wee hours exploring all of the amazing locally owned businesses on Austin's East Side. The Districts are a mere 5 blocks apart, and there are convenient bike-share and rail or bus stops in each District. The next 4th Friday will be October 24th. Check it out!
