The 2-foot-long hot dogs at Bowlmor bowling alley in Addison might just make Rangers Ballpark's same-sized 'dog seem, I don't know, commonplace.
The giant-food game had been dominated by the Arlington ballpark's monstrous munchies, which were praised for their inventiveness, feared for their calorie content.
Take the ballpark's Beltre Buster, a burger with 1 pound of beef and 8 ounces of bacon. Bowlmor's Behemoth Burger makes the Beltre Buster look like a snack: The Behemoth Burger is a 5-pound round "party burger" with eight slices of bacon and 10 slices of American cheese.
Do not ask now many calories are in it; they haven't counted yet.
The burger is served on a 16-inch round pizza pan -- because this thing weighs more than 7 pounds, bun included.
The chef points out that the oversized items on the bowling alley's menu, which became available Oct. 1, aren't just for show. "These are made to be consumed," says corporate executive chef Edward Porter. You just probably need a knife and fork, a pie cutter and a dozen hungry teenagers.
"For a long time, bowling alleys have not been associated with tasty food," Porter says. "We want to make something big but have it taste really good."

The Mega Dog ($19.99): This 2-foot-long hot dog comes in two varieties: Detroit-style and Chicago-style. Detroit-style is a coney dog with coney sauce, diced onions and yellow mustard. The Chi-Town 'dog has sport peppers, neon green relish, chopped onions, tomatoes, pickles, mustard and celery salt. Who eats these hot dogs? Attendees to corporate events or birthday parties. "Or two hungry guys," Porter says.
The Behemoth Burger ($59.99): It's a really, really (really) big cheeseburger made with 5 pounds of ground beef topped with eight slices of bacon; 10 slices of American cheese; a cup of mayo-based, house-made sauce; half a head of iceburg lettuce and 12 tomatoes. The bun weighs about 2-and-a-half pounds on its own. But you wouldn't pick it up, of course: Leave it on the pizza pan and saw into it like you'd cut a cake. It serves 10-12 people.
The Monster Cookie ($7.99): Chefs warm chocolate chip cookie dough in a 6-inch cast-iron skillet. It puffs into a dessert that's 6 inches across, 1.25 inches tall and comes covered with ice cream, drizzled chocolate and whipped cream.
It's worth noting that the bowling alley also has normal-sized food, in case you don't travel in packs.
