Award Description
The DSI-CLEAR Online Teacher & Course Award is a University-wide program to recognize excellence in the design of online courses and the facilitation of the instructional experience using educational technology. The Online Teacher and Course Award recipient receives the distinction of being recognized that their online course has been deemed outstanding based on nationally recognized standards for excellence in online course design. The award also provides recipients with a trophy and monetary stipend.
Nominations
We are once again extending the opportunity to acknowledge exceptional online design and pedagogy from our UNT teaching community. This year, we intend on highlighting faculty who have participated in our new ‘Course in a Box’ development process. If you, or a faculty member you know, designed and delivered an online course during the Spring 2020, Summer 2020, or Fall 2020 semesters within our new development track that you think is worthy of consideration for this award, please send an email to Benjamin.Nye@unt.edu and include the name of your nominee as well as a link to their course in Canvas by Friday, December 7th, 2020.
One "Outstanding Course in a Box" award will be given, and recipients will be notified no later than February 22nd, 2021. Award presentations will take place during the Spring 2021 Salute to Faculty Excellence Awards Celebration.
In addition to the nomination packet, you’ll find DSI-CLEAR's Course Approval Rubric, which will be used to evaluate course nominations. If you're unsure about what constitutes a quality online course, feel free to reference the rubric as a guide for making your decision.
The award will include:
- $1,500 (taxable award) and a trophy will be awarded to the given to the recipient of the "Outstanding Course in a Box" Online Teacher & Course Award.
- The recipient will be recognized at the Spring 2021 Salute to Faculty Excellence Awards Celebration, and their names will be included on a perpetual award plaque displayed in the Center for Learning Experimentation, Application, and Research.
