In 2006, the American Heart Association and the National Football League (NFL) teamed up with a goal to get kids physically active and improve their overall health. Together, we created an in-school curriculum that helps teach educators and students the importance of 60 minutes of physical activity a day and provides examples for teachers, students, and parents on how to incorporate physical activity breaks into their daily lives.

Our work together has allowed us to reach kids in their communities, in a fun and engaging way. Together, we’ve helped more than 5.5 million students engage in physical activity. The work doesn’t stop there.

The American Heart Association and the NFL have identified three focus areas for continuing to improve physical activity in youth.

  • In-school digital experiences that teachers can tune-into with their students
  • At-home engagement through the NFL PLAY 60 App
  • Going direct to the community by piloting a Collective Impact Model approach

Explore all of these opportunities and learn how we continue to increase physical activity in our youth and have a positive impact on their overall health.
