Even if you haven’t completed training, GLOBE’s website is home to a wealth of resources for K-12 students, including a Teacher’s Guide, tried and tested classroom activities, a description of GLOBE’s research protocols, and Elementary GLOBE, which is a series of age-appropriate storybooks that help young ones understand Earth Science topics.

Students and educators love GLOBE's International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS) and GLOBE's Student Research Symposia (SRS).

If you find yourself creating excuses to be outside or to learn more about the natural world, look no further! Citizen science is a fun way to participate in meaningful studies of Earth’s Spheres (atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, pedosphere (soil)).

GLOBE Observer is an international network of citizen scientists and scientists working together to learn more about our shared environment and changing climate. To participate, just download the GLOBE Observer app and submit regular observations. You can also create your GLOBE Observer account to access the website and app.

GLOBE invites science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professionals at any stage in their career (undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral, early/late career) to join the GLOBE International STEM Network (GISN) or to engage GLOBE’s publicly sourced Earth Science database.

U.S. partners and country coordinators are invested in creating opportunities for students and citizens to actively participate in Earth science research.

Our partners are typically long-term members of GLOBE, who have completed protocol training and have experience implementing GLOBE protocols in schools or organizations.

U.S. partners and country coordinators recruit GLOBE schools, secure funding to support GLOBE activities, participate in GLOBE events and communication, offer training or mentoring opportunities for interested educators or citizen scientists, and track student research efforts.

Information for Countries

Countries interested in contributing Earth science data to GLOBE have signed a bilateral agreement with the U.S. government. Country coordinators are nominated by their government to do the important work of implementing GLOBE protocols in schools and organizations.

Information for the U.S. 

In the U.S., academic, nonprofit or governmental organizations, whose priorities or mission align with GLOBE are invited to become U.S. partners. In addition, businesses and organizations whose corporate mission is to invest in successful educational outcomes of students and the community at large are also welcome to become U.S. GLOBE partners. Please view our vision and mission statement to see if your organization’s mission is aligned with GLOBE.

Each U.S. partner must have a formal affiliation with an institution of higher education, a school district, a State Department of Education, or a recognized informal education organization (501c3) such as STEM learning centers, museums, and foundations, leading to sustainable implementation of GLOBE in their community. If you participated in GLOBE as a student, we encourage you to register to become a member of GLOBE. GLOBE Alumni can assist with local implementation of GLOBE research protocols in schools and their communities. Alumni work directly with the GLOBE country coordinator in their country or U.S. Partners in their state, as well as with teachers, students, and scientists who want to collaborate with schools in their local area. Alumni are also encouraged to download the GLOBE Observer App to continue their submission of data into the system.
