The AZA May Advocacy Day is canceled. AZA is working with the Wildlife Conservation Society to explore options for other advocacy opportunities in Washington, DC. Information will be shared when it is available.

Join Us for AZA’s 2020 Advocacy Days and Capitol Hill Reception

You're invited to join AZA in Washington, D.C. for AZA's Capitol Hill advocacy days on May 19th and 20th.  The AZA Capitol Hill reception, which this year will be held on Wednesday, May 20th, is a signature AZA event and much anticipated on Capitol Hill.

The preliminary agenda features:

Tuesday, May 19, 2020 (Kimpton Hotel Palomar)

2 PM – 4 PM: Advocacy Day Training

6 PM – 7 PM: Reception (hosted by Wildlife Conservation Society)

7 PM – 9 PM: Dinner (hosted by Wildlife Conservation Society)

Wednesday, May 20, 2020

8 AM – 9 AM: Breakfast on Capitol Hill

9 AM – 5 PM: Meetings with House and Senate offices

5:30 PM – 7:30 PM: Reception in Rayburn House Office Building (sponsored by AZA)

Attendees will have the opportunity to educate their representatives and senators about the programs at their facilities as well as convey support for federal programs that are important to the AZA community.  We will be developing the legislative agenda in the coming weeks, but key priorities will include federal funding for wildlife conservation, legislation to protect and conserve species, and strengthening partnerships with federal agencies.

With so much at stake for wildlife, we hope to make this year's AZA Capitol Hill Advocacy Day the biggest one yet.  Wildlife needs us, and we need you.  If you cannot attend AZA’s advocacy day in May, please encourage another member of your organization to attend.  Please contact Jennifer Keaton if you have any questions or if you or others from your facility are planning to participate.
