* The total number of tests that have been reported to the New Jersey Department of Health using PCR, the most widely used viral testing method. It is not a count of how many people have been tested. Some persons have been tested multiple times, while some tests produce inconclusive results and need to be repeated.  Additionally, about 20 percent of the tests performed on New Jersey residents, particularly persons who were tested at private facilities, have been processed by laboratories that are not known to consistently report negative results.

Declining immunizations during the current pandemic put children and communities at risk for outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases. Please remember, pediatric offices are open and ready to provide your child with the vaccines and care they need to stay healthy!  The New Jersey Department of Health and the New Jersey Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics encourage parents to contact their pediatrician to learn about the policies and procedures they have in place to keep you and your family safe during an office visit.

Governor Murphy Announces All New Jersey Residents Ages 65 and Older Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccine Beginning on January 14

Beginning Thursday, January 14, all New Jersey residents ages 65 and older, and individuals ages 16-64 with certain medical conditions, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), that increase the risk of severe illness from the virus, are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination.

Governor Murphy Marks Start of COVID-19 Vaccination Effort for Sworn Law Enforcement and Fire Professionals

All sworn law enforcement and fire professionals in New Jersey are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, which is estimated to include about 55,000 individuals. These first responders are the first individuals in Phase 1B to become eligible for vaccination.

The New Jersey Department of Health issued an Executive Directive requiring that facilities that receive BinaxNOW tests and have a CLIA Certificate—which is a lab requirement for point of care testing—test all staff and visitors starting today and for the next two weeks (Nov. 30 – Dec. 14).
