Water information is fundamental to national and local economic well-being, protection of life and property, and effective management of water resources. The USGS works with partners in Oklahoma and Texas to monitor, assess, conduct targeted research, and deliver information on a wide range of water resources including streamflow, groundwater, water quality, and water use and availability.

Flood Decision Support Toolbox (FDST) enhanced with addition of building footprint data

The Texas Water Development Board provided an enhancement to the Flood Decision Support Toolbox that allows users to view how different heights of flooding may affect buildings located near selected USGS streamgages. This online tool will allow the public to see how broadly and deeply floodwaters can cover these sites, measured in half-foot increments of floodwater height.

The occurrence and distribution of strontium in U.S. groundwater

Groundwater samples from 32 principal aquifers across the United States (U.S.) provide a broad spatial scope of the occurrence and distribution of strontium (Sr) and are used to assess environments and factors that influence Sr concentration. Strontium is a common trace element in soils, rocks, and water and is ubiquitous in groundwater with...
