COVID-19 Information

Country-Specific Information:

  • Eswatini has confirmed 7026 cases of COVID-19 and 135 deaths within its borders. Grocery stores and health clinics are open. Religious services are allowed to operate at a maximum of 50 percent occupancy.

Entry and Exit Requirements:

  • Are U.S. citizens permitted to enter? Yes.
  • Is a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) required for entry? Yes.
  • Are health screening procedures in place at airports and other ports of entry? Yes.

Movement Restrictions:

  • Is a curfew in place? No.
  • Are there restrictions on intercity or interstate travel? Yes. There are roadblocks between cities where temperatures are checked.

Quarantine Information:

  • Are U.S. citizens required to quarantine? No.

COVID-19 Testing:

  • U.S. citizens can receive COVID testing at clinics and hospitals within the country. The cost is generally $50.

COVID-19 Vaccination:

  • The United States Government does not plan to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to private U.S. citizens overseas.  Please follow host country developments and guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination.

Transportation Options:

  • Is public transportation operating? Yes
  • Passengers are required to wear masks and use hand sanitizer upon entry into the vehicle.

Consular Operations:

  • Mission critical and emergency American Citizens Services only.
  • Mission critical and emergency visa services only are available.

Local Resources:

  • The Ministry of Health has established a toll-free hotline (975) to answer COVID-19 questions and receive reports of suspected cases, particularly from those who have traveled recently to mainland China. The government has designated a focal point for Eswatini’s COVID-19 response. It has also designated one isolation ward within a primary health care facility and a second isolation ward in an alternate health care facility for coronavirus case management.
