COVID-19 Information

Country-Specific Information:
- Haiti has had 9,565 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 234 deaths as of December 11, 2020.
- The Government of Haiti has implemented measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. Mask wearing is required in public and in instances where social distancing cannot be maintained.
Entry and Exit Requirements:
- Are U.S. citizens permitted to enter? Yes
- The international airport in Port-au-Prince is open to regular two-way commercial passenger flights as of June 30, 2020. The international airport in Cap-Haitian is open, and flights to and from Cap-Haitian have resumed on a regular basis. Commercial airlines resumed regular flight services to and from Haiti beginning on July 1, 2020.
- The land border with the Dominican Republic is open to pedestrian and vehicular traffic as of July 1, 2020.
- Is a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) required for entry? No
- Are health screening procedures in place at airports and other ports of entry? Yes
- Travelers arriving by air in Haiti will have their temperature screened upon arrival.
- The Government of Haiti mandates that every person flying into Haiti self-declare their COVID-19 status. Beginning July 1, airlines began to distribute a health declaration form to passengers on all incoming flights. Passengers are required to complete this form, including accurate contact and location information in Haiti, and present it to immigration authorities upon arrival.

Movement Restrictions:
- Is a curfew in place? No.
- Are there restrictions on intercity or interstate travel? No
Quarantine Information:
- Are U.S. citizens required to quarantine? Yes
- Travelers from specific states in the U.S. designated as having a high transmission risk will have to quarantine for fourteen (14) days on arrival. The designated high-risk states are determined by the Ministry of Public Health and posted on their website.
COVID-19 Testing:
The COVID-19 test is free of charge in the following public/private health institutions in five departments of Haiti:
- West department:
- National Public Health Laboratory
- Gheskio Centers IMIS LRM
- “Nos Petits Frères et Soeurs” Hospital
- South department:
- Immaculé Conception Hospital of les Cayes
- Fond Des Blancs Hospital
- Centre department:
- Mirebalais University Hospital
- Artibonite department:
- Saint Nicolas Hospital of Saint Marc
- La Providence Hospital of Gonaïves
- North department:
- Justinian University Hospital of Cap Haitian
- Sacré-Coeur Hospital, Milot
Transportation Options:
- Are commercial flights operating? Yes
- Is public transportation operating? Yes
- According to the last official communication of the government (Circular no. 009), wearing a mask remains mandatory in public spaces. U.S. Citizens are asked to wear mask in public transportation if unable to maintain physical distance. Any gathering on public roads involving more than 50 people is prohibited.
Fines for Non-Compliance:
There are no consequences publicly listed for violation of COVID-19 mitigation measures at this time; however, this does not mean that non-compliance isn’t punishable by law.
Consular Operations:
- The American Citizen Services unit at the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince is offering all routine passport/citizenship and notarial services, as well as special citizen emergency services. U.S. citizens seeking appointments can schedule online at https://evisaforms.state.gov/acs/.
- The Non-Immigrant Visa unit in the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince is unable to offer non-emergency nonimmigrant visa services at this time.
- The Immigrant Visa unit is operating on a limited basis, processing only a limited number of immediate relative cases.
