Airport Security Sweep Update (Miami)

Summary

Dolores Manuel Medrano pleaded guilty on February 13 in U.S. District Court in Miami, FL, to making false statements on her application for an airport security badge by using a false Social Security number. She is the 9th guilty defendant among 17 former employees netted during a September 2002 security sweep at Miami International Airport. Medrano worked as a carpenter for a private corporation doing renovation work at the airport. A sentencing date has not been scheduled. This investigation was conducted by OIG, U.S. Customs Service, Social Security Administration, and INS.
