On July 20, 2020, DOT-OIG issued a letter to the Chairmen and Ranking Members of the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies related to the fatal collapse of a pedestrian bridge at Florida International University in Miami on March 15, 2018. The letter provides a summary of firms involved in the design, construction, and inspection of the bridge, including information on safety violations and prior criminal convictions. Congress directed DOT-OIG to provide this information in the explanatory statement that accompanied the Fiscal Year 2019 Appropriations Act.
