Audit Initiated on Amtrak's Financial Accounting and Reporting System

Summary

As mandated by Section 203(b) of the Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act of 2008 (PRIIA), the Office of Inspector General is initiating an audit of Amtrak's Performance Tracking (APT) system to assess its effectiveness as a cost accounting and reporting system, and its ability to fairly allocate Amtrak's avoidable and fully allocated revenues and expenses by lines of businesses and major activities as required by Section 203(a) of PRIIA.
