Craig Fair: My name is Craig Fair, and I’m the Special Agent in Charge of FBI San Francisco. I’d like to talk to you today about the work we’re doing to protect our communities from the threat of violence, and how you can help. The FBI’s mission is to protect the American people and uphold the Constitution of the United States. We investigate credible threats and do everything we can to prevent the loss of life, while protecting the civil liberties of all Americans. This includes working closely with our federal, state, and local partners to identify and stop any potential threats to public safety. We cannot do our work without the essential help we receive from the public, help from people like you. Keeping our communities safe is a shared responsibility, and we urge you to remain vigilant. We need the community’s support in reporting threatening behavior and suspicious activity to local law enforcement or the FBI. We take every tip that we receive seriously. If the FBI believes a federal crime may have been committed, one or more FBI special agents will conduct an investigation. These investigations are complex and can take time, but we conduct them thoroughly, using the least intrusive means necessary. As part of the investigation, FBI special agents will gather evidence, which may include an interview with you or others who may have information that can help our investigation.
