Global Health Advisory:

The Department of State advises U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19.  Many areas throughout the world are now experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks and taking action that may limit traveler mobility, including quarantines and border restrictions. Country-Specific Information:

  • Zimbabwe has 11,749 confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and 313 deaths as of December 18, 2020.

Government of Zimbabwe Lockdown

  • The government began a nationwide lockdown on March 30 and extended a slightly-eased version indefinitely on May 16. People must wear face masks in public.  A 10:00 pm – 6:00 am curfew remains in effect.

Entry and Exit Requirements:

  • As of December 1, the Government of Zimbabwe requires all new arrivals to the country to present a negative COVID-19 test result issued within the previous 48 hours.  The government provides no option for testing upon arrival for such travelers.
  • The Government of Zimbabwe requires returning residents to either have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken within the previous 48 hours -or- to get tested upon arrival and remain in a government holding facility while awaiting the results.
  • Borders remain open for cargo.
