 Country-Specific Information:

  • COVID is currently contained to isolation facilities in Fiji. Known cases are currently limited to arriving international passengers who tested positive while in self-isolation after arrival in the country.
  • Entry to Fiji is currently very restricted. Travel by non-Fiji citizens for tourism or visits is generally not permitted, with exceptions possible for arrivals by sea. Travelers should contact Fiji Immigration with specific inquiries.
  • Only one international flight travels to Fiji each week – an Air New Zealand round trip flight every Thursday to/from Auckland.
  • Fiji Airways has suspended international passenger flights through the end of September 2020.

 

 

Entry and Exit Requirements:

  • Are U.S. citizens permitted to enter? Yes, but only in limited cases
  • With limited exceptions, only Fiji citizens are currently allowed to fly to Fiji.
  • Non-Fiji citizens are not currently permitted entry by air for tourism or visits.
  • U.S. citizens who hold Fiji permanent residency or work permits should contact Fiji Immigration for details on requesting entry permission to travel to Fiji.
  • U.S. citizens seeking to enter Fiji by on a yacht, sailboat, or other small watercraft should contact Fiji Immigration before planning travel for additional information.
  • Is a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) required for entry? Yes
  • Travelers must present airline check-in staff with a recent negative COVID-19 test taken not more than 72 hours prior to departure. Only RT-PCR or Cepheid GeneXpert tests are accepted. Test results must be a complete report from the laboratory, on laboratory letterhead.
  • Are health screening procedures in place at airports and other ports of entry? Yes
  • Temperature and symptom checks will be conducted on arrival at the airport. If symptoms are present, a COVID-19 test will be conducted at the traveler’s expense.
  • U.S. citizens already in Fiji can contact Fiji Immigration for information about extending Fiji visas.

 

 

Movement Restrictions:

  • Is a curfew in place? Yes
  • A nationwide curfew is in effect from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. nightly.
  • Are there restrictions on intercity or interstate travel? No

 

 

Quarantine Information:

  • Are U.S. citizens required to quarantine? Yes

 

    • Entry to Fiji for U.S. citizens is currently very limited.
    • All arriving air passengers are required to quarantine in a Fiji Government-supervised facility (typically a hotel) for 14 days. Travelers must pay for the cost of the stay in quarantine. Travelers will not be able to quarantine in homes or alternate locations Prior to release from quarantine, travelers will be tested for COVID-19. Travelers are responsible for the cost of the test.
    • All travelers seeking to arrive by sea should contact Fiji Immigration about quarantine restrictions specific to their proposed voyage.

 

COVID-19 Testing:

  • The Fiji Ministry of Health has announced that non-Fiji citizens will be charged a 300 FJD testing fee for a COVID-19 test.
  • Details on testing options are available from the Fiji Ministry of Health.

 

 

Transportation Options:

  • Are commercial flights operating? Yes
  • One international flight (an Air New Zealand flight to Auckland) is available weekly.
  • Travelers transiting Auckland to and from the United States are limited to a 12-hour transit in Auckland. They must remain airside during transit.
  • All Fiji Airways international flights are currently suspended.
  • Is public transportation operating? Yes

 

 

Fines for Non-Compliance:

  • Fiji Police strictly enforce Fiji’s overnight (11 p.m.-4 a.m.) curfew.
  • Travelers violating curfew regulations are subject to arrest and fine.

Country-Specific Information:

  • COVID cases have been reported in the community in French Polynesia.
  • U.S. citizens may travel to French Polynesia, but flight options to and from the United States are limited.
  • Travelers are required to test negative for COVID within three days of departing for French Polynesia, and are required to test again in French Polynesia approximately four days after arrival.

 Entry and Exit Requirements:

  • Are U.S. citizens permitted to enter? Yes
    • U.S. citizens are permitted to travel to French Polynesia, subject to entry requirements listed below.
    • Passengers age 11 and older are required to wear masks on flights to and from French Polynesia.
  • Is a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) required for entry? Yes
    • Travelers must present airline check-in staff with proof of a negative COVID-19 test (RT-PCR molecular tests only) taken within three days of departure. Please note that other tests, including rapid RT-PCR, antigen, and antibody tests are not accepted for this requirement.
    • Travelers will be required to test again four days after arriving in French Polynesia. Additional details regarding follow-up testing will be provided on arrival by French Polynesian authorities.
  • Are health screening procedures in place at airports and other ports of entry? Yes

    • Tuvalu has announced entry restrictions for travelers who have been in China within 30 days of travel to Tuvalu.

  • Entry and Exit Requirements:
    • The Government of Tuvalu announced restrictions prohibiting entry to Tuvalu of anyone who has been in China within 30 days of arrival in Tuvalu. This restriction includes entry to seafarers from foreign vessels that have been in China or “a high-risk country” (understood to be countries where coronavirus is present) in the last 30 days.
    • Travelers who have been in a “high-risk country” must obtain a medical clearance three days prior to entering Tuvalu and must remain in a country other than those listed as “high-risk” for at least five days before reentering Tuvalu.
    • Health screening will be conducted at Funafuti airport and seaport, and may also be conducted at Nausori (Fiji) Airport and Tarawa (Kiribati) Airport.
