Exploring the Early Americas

This tour examines indigenous cultures, the drama of the encounters between Maya, Aztec, and Inca cultures and European explorers and settlers, and the changes caused by the meeting of the two worlds. It features selections from the Jay I. Kislak Collection as well as the Waldseemüller Maps, created in 1507 and 1516.

Location

The Thomas Jefferson Building is located on First Street SE, between Independence Avenue and East Capitol Street. This tour is for reserved groups of maximum of 25 only. Check in 15 minutes before the tour at the Ground Floor Information Desk .

Accessibility

The Library buildings are fully accessible. A limited number of wheelchairs are provided at the Jefferson Building ground floor information desk.
