The danger the Trump die-hards are inflicting on America

Opinion by Dennis Aftergut, Jeffrey Abramson and Frederick Hoxie
On January 2, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz announced that he would join Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley and nine other Republican senators objecting to the certification of Joe Biden's Electoral College victory. Attempting to revive the ghost of 1876's genuinely disputed presidential election, these senators have called for a congressional "electoral commission" to investigate the presidential vote that has been counted and recounted in key battleground states.

Trump's Georgia call is so outrageous that prosecutors must investigate

Opinion by Elie Honig
When President Donald Trump called Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and implored him to somehow "find" exactly enough votes for Trump to win the state, Trump certainly abused his power and, beyond that, might well have committed criminal offenses. We can no longer write off Trump's dangerous, potentially criminal conduct as merely "Trump being Trump." It's time for prosecutors to do their jobs.

The bold action Biden and Harris should launch

Opinion by Peniel E. Joseph
The lived effects of racism and inequality constitute America's biggest public health and safety crisis, and it demands bold, courageous action in 2021. The Biden-Harris administration's first 100 days should be devoted to developing, unveiling and implementing a National Racial Truth, Justice and Healing Commission, with executive authority charged with three broad missions. The commission could be run out of the Oval Office, perhaps overseen by senior domestic adviser Susan Rice, and have a staff that included a congressional liaison to help pursue legislative programs while simultaneously using executive authority wherever possible to achieve its objective.

Trump's deranged phone call with Georgia secretary of state reveals a desperate man

Opinion by Michael D'Antonio
The latest turn in loser Donald Trump's campaign to overturn the 2020 election reveals a desperate man willing to say almost anything to get what he wants but instead getting rebuffed by officials who are made of finer stuff. As he pressures them to abandon their duty and come over the dark side of politics, their refusal makes Trump's corrupt methods all the more obvious.

Trump's Iran policy has failed across the board

Outgoing Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's barrage of tweets on Friday was inaccurate and insensitive. In fact, they were incredibly undiplomatic for our nation's supposed chief diplomat.

Mike Pence is in a weird spot

"And now for something completely different," John Cleese routinely intoned between absurdist sketches on "Monty Python's Flying Circus." He might have been wearing a tuxedo or a pink bikini, and on one occasion he said it while appearing to be roasting on a spit.
