About the facility:

Rarely do culture and history meet such beauty; Acoma-Canoncito-Laguna Service Unit (ACLSU) is surrounded by enchanting mesas, boasting remarkable views of the high desert and sweeping views of the beautiful mountains of Mount Taylor. This unique landscape studded with canyons and mesas provides a dynamic setting. The Acoma and surrounding reservations are archaeological treasures with a rich history dating back to at least 1200 A.D. Area tribes are known for their Service Unity, receiving wandering tribes and other travelers to share the abundance of their sacred valley.

ACLSU is located 60 miles west of Albuquerque, New Mexico’s major metropolitan area and within two driving hours of Santa Fe, the premier cultural center of the southwest. The facility serves a tribal population of approximately 9,100 tribal members, comprised of two tribes: the Pueblo of Acoma, and the Pueblo of Laguna.

At ACLSU, instead of being relegated to a single job, you can become a vital member of a comprehensive team. Our Joint Commissioned accredited Service Unit is a full-service inpatient and outpatient facility staffed by 230 dedicated team, including physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Our Inpatient Unit has a six bed capacity, and services include general medical care, Outpatient services include general medical, primary care, woman’s health, podiatry, physical therapy, optometry and dentistry.

ACL Service Unit has 126,000 patient visits a year and high risk outpatients and those requiring surgery or complex medical care are referred to another facility for the appropriate higher level care.

Our continuing goal is to elevate the status of Native Americans to the highest possible level. There is a high incidence of diabetes and its complications, as well as infectious disease and alcoholism on the reservations. Your knowledge and educational skills are needed to help our tribal members live healthier lives.

We focus our health care services toward prevention, with primary programs including public health nursing, nutritional services, social services, behavioral health, mental health services, substance abuse, health education and environmental health services.

As the healthcare landscape is continually changing, and with so many advancements in technology, industry reform and an increasing emphasis on patient centered care, the staff of ACLSU strives to be ready for the future and adapting to change utilizing strategic and financially secure strategies to provide the highest quality care. ACLSU offers providers a chance to practice medicine in a professional, supportive environment which challenges your abilities while allowing a balance between work and personal life. It’s a great place to raise a family.
