CDC Tribal Consultation, Partnership, and Funding

CDC and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry are committed to working with federally recognized tribal nations on a government-to-government basis. CDC and ATSDR strongly support and respect tribal sovereignty and self-governance for tribal nations in the United States. The CDC/ATSDR Tribal Advisory Committee (TAC) advises CDC and ATSDR on policy issues and broad strategies that may significantly affect American Indian and Alaska Native communities. It also assists CDC in fulfilling its mission to promote health and quality of life by preventing and controlling disease, injury, and disability through established and ongoing relationships and consultation sessions.

CDC also provides targeted funding to address public health issues in Indian Country, as do several other federal agencies and non-federal groups.
