The Illinois Where Fresh Is logo is part of a marketing campaign that can be used to help identify and sell Illinois grown
produce at grocery stores throughout Illinois. As part of the grant, 200 grocery stores located in Illinois will be selected across the state through an application
process to receive a starter pack of point of sale materials.

Farmers wanting to meet regional fresh produce buyers are invited to attend a Meet the Buyers event scheduled for January 29, 2013 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Kankakee Community College, Kankakee, Illinois. Buyers will be in attendance to provide an overview of their organization and their procurement needs. Farmers will have the opportunity to meet with buyers one-on-one.

DROUGHT UPDATE
The Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) has obtained a waiver from the federal prohibition against blending aflatoxin-contaminated corn. A copy of the approval letter and a Certificate of Compliance that must be completed and signed in order to blend corn are provided.
The department also is an active participant on the Drought Response Task Force (see drought.illinois.gov).

In an ongoing effort to promote the Illinois food and agribusiness industry within the global marketplace, The Illinois Department of Agriculture (DOA)'s Bureau of Marketing has launched various promotional services through several regional and national expositions, promotions, seminars, and industry tours. In addition, the DOA maintains foreign offices in Hong Kong and Mexico to assist Illinois companies overseas. Illinois is also a member of the twelve-state Food Export Association-Midwest. By utilizing this private, non-profit association, DOA is positioned to increase international exports in addition to the state-sponsored Food Export activities.
