CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) provided timely and accurate data for the nation’s COVID-19 response through a COVID-19 Module that enabled hospitals to report:

  • Current inpatient and intensive care unit (ICU) bed occupancy
  • Healthcare worker staffing
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) supply status and availability

Reporting was available to all U.S. acute care hospitals, critical access hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation facilities, inpatient psychiatric facilities, and long-term acute care hospitals. Facilities that reported COVID-19 data have access to data analysis tools through the NHSN application, for data previously reporting to NHSN.

Percentage of Facilities Reporting by State

The following display shows the percentage of facilities reporting one or more elements into NHSN’s Patient Impact and Hospital Capacity Pathway for the most recent collection date (during the last 3 days).
