The Cybersecurity Workforce Executive Order was signed to further promote the cultivation and continued development of America’s cybersecurity workforce. Under this order, the Federal Government is responsible for creating organizational and technological tools that will help maximize the cybersecurity talents of American workers. This order also establishes a cybersecurity rotational assignment program that will facilitate knowledge sharing among the Federal workforce.

Executive Order on America’s Cybersecurity Workforce

The U.S. Department of Energy and CESER will be tasked with working alongside national laboratories to provide expert technical advice for an annual cybersecurity competition—the President’s Cup Cybersecurity Competition. This competition, intended for Federal, civilian, and military employees, will identify, challenge, and reward the Government’s best cybersecurity practitioners. CESER also will work with U.S. DOE to identify skill gaps in Energy Sector security so that these gaps can be rectified.
