The Deputy Director for Field Operations is responsible for the effective stewardship and management of ten DOE national laboratories and their contracts. Responsibilities include field office oversight, laboratory policy, safeguards and security, facility and infrastructure management and modernization, and operations oversight, including such critical areas as nuclear safety, worker safety and health, and the environment. Through these efforts the DOE Office of Science Field Operations serves the nation by facilitating the core research and development mission of the national laboratories.
