NDMS Teams

Working together to provide the best of care in the worst of times

Across the country, almost 5,000 professionals serve with the National Disaster Medical System. When they aren’t responding to disasters, these people are the physicians, registered nurses, dentists, paramedics, and other medical and support professionals in whom we entrust our health on a day-to-day basis.

When their NDMS teams are activated in response to a disaster, these professionals serve as members of NDMS teams – and they are ready to respond within hours of being activated. They deploy to assist during disasters and emergencies, providing expert care and services in conditions that are often austere and challenging. They also work behind the scenes at some of our nation’s biggest events, like the Democratic and Republican National Conventions and Presidential Inaugurations, standing at the ready to protect health and save lives in the event of an emergency.

Find out how teams of health professionals in different specialties work together during disaster and emergencies.
