Search Tools - New and Improved Options
The United States Department of Labor, Office of Administrative Law Judges (OALJ) has launched two new search tools for its website at www.oalj.dol.gov. These new search tools are result of a collaborative project of OALJ and the technology team at Benefits.gov. Together with existing search tools on the OALJ website, OALJ now offers four different ways to find information about hearing procedure, specific cases, and relevant law.
New full site keyword search:
The new “Search by Keyword” tool is a state-of-the-art full-text search application enhanced by faceted navigation that will be familiar to users of e-commerce sites. Faceted navigation permits filtering of results by select criteria depending on the data retrieved. Available filters include originating agency, program area, case type, document type, document format, and date range. This search covers the entire OALJ website and select information from the Administrative Review Board and the Benefits Review Board.
New search by OALJ number:
The new “Search by Case Number” tool enables users to search by OALJ case number all published case specific orders, notices, decisions and other documents issued by ALJs during adjudications. This search allows for precise filtering of results, including, for example, whether the document is a decision, order, notice, continuance.
DMS Search:
The existing “Document Management System (DMS) Search” enables users to search for published documents issued by the presiding judge by OALJ case number, name of party, or date of decision.
Case Status Lookup:
The existing “Case Status Lookup” enables users to return a docket sheet for specific cases using the OALJ or BALCA case number, or in certain cases, the case number assigned by the agency from which the case originated. The docket sheet includes links to published documents issued by the presiding ALJ. The case status field on the docket search is accepted by DHS for H-1B extension requests.
