Records of the Coast and Geodetic Survey (Record Group 23)

This series, Nine-Lens Aerial Photography, 1938 - 61, consists of unique aerial photographic negatives. These photographic nine-lens negatives produce a vertical photograph that is surrounded by 8 low obliques. The camera total angular coverage is 130 degrees. In 1936, Lt. Commander O.S. Reading of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey designed the nine-lens camera. Soon thereafter photogrammetric mapping along the coasts of the United States began. The use of the camera was discontinued in 1961.

This aerial photography was used to create more accurate coastal survey maps. These photographs have many other uses such as coastal management, waterfront development, and natural resource identification. Materials open and processed. This series, Manufacturers' Aircraft Plans, 1942 - 62, consists of copies of manufacturers' construction plans of aircraft, aircraft engines, and electronic equipment utilized by the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps from 1942 to 1962. Included are blueprints, vandykes, and other photochemical copies, as well as some manuscript pencil tracings, that were collected as a central file by the Naval Air Modification Unit (NAMU) and its successor, the Naval Air Development Center (NADC) at Johnsville, PA. The plans relate to all types of propeller-driven and jet aircraft that were in production during the period, including airships, helicopters, gliders, and drones. Received from the Johnson Space Center (NASA-JSC) were 350 motion pictures providing JSC Engineering coverage from July 1975 to April 1976 of the Apollo-Soyuz flight, with interviews, press conferences, remarks, training, and air-to-ground flight recordings. This is a continuation of the JSC A-Series received previously and the beginning of the JSC B-Series. Materials open and processed. Accession NN3-255-04-001.

Records of the Agricultural Research Service (Record Group 310)

This accession consists of more than 18,000 photographic negatives, prints, color slides, lantern slides, and publication drawings that were produced and maintianed from 1898 to approximately 1973 as the agency photography collection in the Bureau of Enotmology, the Bureau of Entomolgy and Plant Quarantine, and the Agricultural Research Service of the Department of Agriculture. The photographic collection is described in 17 series and covers an extremely wide and diverse range of topics and subjects related to entomological research including insects, pests, plants, flower bulbs, views of experimental fields, orchards, greenhouses, insect damge to crops, as well as images of agency personnel, facilities, laboratories, and field activities. Records of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (Record Group 311)

This series, Flood Insurance Maps, 1975 - 2002 (accretion: Georgia through Maryland), consists of flood elevation determination maps and flood insurance rate maps published by the Federal Insurance Administration under the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

These records include some preliminary versions of these maps called either flood hazard boundary maps or flood boundary or floodway maps and some related flood insurance studies. These maps were designed to depict flood-prone areas within selected counties and communities participating in the National Flood Insurance Program for purposes of calculating Federal flood insurance rates based on 100-year and 500-year flood occurrences and other hazard factors. This large series identified as Series ID 319-AP consists of 43,000 "Photographs of U.S. and Foreign Military Personnel, Defense Department and Other Government Officials, Royalty, and Heads of State, 1964 - 1974," as transferred from the U.S. Army Still Photographic Library of the U.S. Army Audiovisual Agency. It includes black-and-white and color photographs taken by U.S. Army Signal Corps and other photographers and documents U.S. and foreing military personnel, Defense Department and other U.S. Government officials, U.S. Presidents and Vice Presidents, heads of state, royalty, sports figures and entertainers, historical figures, and other notable individuals. The series is a mix of portraits of individuals, including photographs of paintings, and images documentating ceremonial events and visits. Of note are images showing foreign military officers on official visits, in training, or participating in joint exercises, as well as images of some of the key figures in World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. This series, Aerial Photographic Film, 1940 - 70, consists of vertical and oblique sequential photographic negatives in roll format. Both urban and rural areas of the United States are represented with emphasis on coastal and navigable inland harbors and waterways, military installations, and airfields throughout the country. The coverage for areas of the world outside the United States is concentrated on areas of World War II and immediate postwar U.S. military activities and facilities. Materials open and processed. Records of the U.S. Marshals Service (Record Group 527)

This accession was received from the Historian's Office and consists of 40 audiotape recordings of oral history interviews (some with typed transcripts) as conducted by the agency historian documenting U.S. Marshals involvement in the integration of the University of Mississippi in 1962 by James Meredith, and the Incident at Wounded Knee, on February 27, 1973, where members of the American Indian Movement (AIM) led by Russell Means seized the memorial site. Donated Materials (DM-JFKJ)

Gift of 58 videotape recordings of CBS television news coverage and archival footage of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, 1963 - 68. Included are interviews with Marina Oswald and Orville Nix, as well as footage of Jim Garrison, Donald Ferrie, and others. Materials open and processed for research and study purposes only. This set of videotapes was obtained from the CBS news archive by the Assassination Records Review Board (ARRB). Accession NN3-JFKJ-01-001.

Pre-Presidential Papers of Ronald Reagan, 1918 - 80. Title to this material was transferred from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation to the National Archives and Records Administration. This accession consists of materials related to Ronald Reagan's childhood, education, military service, early political activities, service as Governor of California, radio commentary show, speeches and his 1976 and 1980 Presidential campaign material. Access to the material is currently restricted. 25 linear feet, 300 audiovisual items.
