Welcome to the official Flickr profile for the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum! We maintain the largest collection of historic air and spacecraft in the world. We also conduct research into the history, science, and technology of aviation and space flight, as well as planetary science and terrestrial geology and geophysics.

Hundreds of aviation and space objects are on display at our two locations - the Museum on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA. In Washington, DC, you can see the original Wright 1903 Flyer, the Spirit of St. Louis, Apollo 11 command module "Columbia," and you can touch a lunar rock sample. At the Udvar-Hazy Center in Virginia, many more objects are displayed including the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, Boeing B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay and Space Shuttle Discovery.

Here on Flickr, we like to share photos of our air and space objects, public programs, restoration projects, and other behind the scenes activities. We really love our Flickr groups where we invite you to share photos from your visit or from special aviation and space-related moments in your life - like attending a space shuttle launch. Thanks for sharing!
