The National Park Service is implementing the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), The White House, and local and state authorities to promote social distancing. The NPS is modifying our operations for facilities and programs, including closure, at areas that cannot adhere to this guidance. Where it is safe, outdoor spaces will remain open to the public. Please check with individual parks for specific details about park operations.

The heal...th and safety of people visiting and working in national park areas is our number one priority. We continue to urge visitors to do their part when visiting a park and to follow CDC guidance to prevent the spread of infectious diseases by maintaining a safe distance between yourself and other groups; washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth; covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze, and most importantly, staying home if you feel sick.

You can find an active listing of park alerts and any closures at https://www.nps.gov/planyourvisit/alerts.htm

Updates about the NPS response to the coronavirus will be posted on www.nps.gov/coronavirus.

A classic Holiday poem with a National Park Service twist!

Videos
It is a gift. It is a sacrifice. It is a duty of many, taken up by few. Thank you for your service. National parks and the military have strong ties going back to the establishment of Yellowstone as the world's first national park in 1872. The U.S. Cavalry watched over America's national parks and did double duty, serving as the first park rangers until the National Park Service was created 44 years later. During World War II, many parks were set aside for the training and care of military personnel. Today, dozens of national parks commemorate military battles and achievements. Discover the people who have protected our freedom. Learn about the places that shaped our military history and culture. Explore opportunities for active-duty military, veterans, and their families.
