Jason Reynolds, the 2020-21 National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, is the seventh writer to hold this position. The National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature is an initiative of the Library of Congress, in partnership with Every Child a Reader External link and the Children’s Book Council External link, with generous support from Dollar General Literacy Foundation External link.

Reynolds is the author of thirteen books for young people, including his most recent, “Look Both Ways: A Tale Told in Ten Blocks.” A native of Washington, D.C., Reynolds began writing poetry at 9 years old, and is the recipient of a Newbery Honor, a Printz Honor, an NAACP Image Award, and multiple Coretta Scott King Award honors.

The National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature raises national awareness of the importance of young people’s literature as it relates to lifelong literacy, education and the development and betterment of the lives of young people.
