Instructions for COVID-19 Data Virginia Open Data Portal
VDH continues to provide all of the data sets powering the VDH COVID-19 Dashboards through the Virginia Open Data Portal. These data sets capture all data since the beginning of COVID-19 reporting in Virginia and continue to increase in size each day. As a result, the data sets may take longer to update on the Virginia Open Data Portal; however, all data sets are expected to update by 12:00 noon daily.
This is different from the data displayed on the VDH COVID-19 Daily Dashboard which is updated daily, and data are available by 10:00am.
- Cases, hospitalizations, and fatalities at the locality level
- Ability to differentiate between confirmed and probable cases
- Cases, hospitalizations, and fatalities by demographics at the district level

- Cases and Testing Data by ZIP Code
- Outbreaks Data
- Testing Data
- Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) Data
- COVID-Like Illness (CLI) Visits Emergency Department and Urgent Care
- VDH released the Pandemic Metrics dashboard on 9/28/20. The foundation of the Pandemic Metrics dashboard uses data from datasets already provided on the Data Downloads tab. VDH plans to release a dataset specific to the Pandemic Metrics dashboard soon, check back for updates.
