COMMUNITY NOTIFICATION LEVEL II AND LEVEL III SEX OFFENDERS

Under Rhode Island law, community notification is authorized for convicted sex offenders with a date of offense on or after 7-24-96. In Rhode Island, a Sex Offender Board of Review classifies sex offenders based on their risk to re-offend. There are three classification:

                      • a Level I or “low risk offender”, or

                      • a Level II or “moderate risk offender”, or

                      • a Level III or “high risk offender”

Per Rhode Island law, police only are notified of Level I and Juvenile sex offenders.  Information regarding Level I sex offenders or Juveniles may not be published on this website. As to Level II and Level III sex offenders, law enforcement agencies are authorized to notify public agencies, public and private schools, and establishments and organizations where the offender is likely to be encountered by the public. In addition, law enforcement is authorized to notify individual community members of Level III sex offenders residing in their area.

The Level II and Level III offenders listed on this website have been convicted of Criminal Sexual Conduct or other statutes which requires the individual to register with law enforcement and allow for community notification. The primary purpose of community notification is to enhance public safety and protection. The offender(s) are not wanted by the police at this time and, unless otherwise indicated, has served the sentence imposed on him/her by the court. This notification is not to increase fear in the community. It is the belief of law enforcement that an informed public is a safer public.

WARNING: Any person who uses information on this website to threaten, intimidate or harass any registered offender may be subject to criminal prosecution. Please report any concerns about any individual listed herein to your local police.
