Upon request, employers must provide information to state child support agencies about employees, including employment status and information on wages, income, withholdings, and possible health insurance. States use this information to establish and enforce child support orders.
How does an employer provide the information?
Each state child support agency sends its own verification of employment (VOE) form. Employers can respond using one of these options:
Complete and return the form you received from the state.
Can a third-party respond to a verification of employment?
If you use a third party for employment verifications, some states may require you to respond directly to an employment verification request instead of processing it through your third-party provider.
