Welcome to Georgia’s Coastal Resources Division Website
Coastal Georgia is a region rich in history, beauty, mystery and natural wonders. Cultures have mixed here for ages, just as the rivers mix with the sea. With its large tidal ranges, vast salt marshes and picturesque barrier islands, coastal Georgia has drawn people throughout history.
The Coastal Resources Division is the state agency entrusted to manage Georgia's coastal marshes, beaches, waters, and marine fisheries resources for the benefit of present and future generations. The Division's service area extends from the inland reach of the tidal waters to three miles offshore.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GA-DNR) hosted the state’s first Climate Conference on November 2-3, 2016 on Jekyll Island, drawing 217 participants from universities, state agencies, local governments, federal agencies, nonprofit organizations and the private sector.
The conference, titled “Prepare, Respond and Adapt: Is Georgia Climate Ready?” featured 18 sessions and 72 presentations on diverse topics connected to the state’s changing environmental conditions. The event highlighted existing efforts, facilitated the exchange of information and promoted collaboration on current and future climate-related projects in Georgia.
The votes are in and Georgians will soon have the opportunity to purchase a new motor vehicle license plate to support marine habitat conservation. Online voting ended last month and the winner is a plate designed by Cobb County graphic artist, Omar Murcia.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has announced a new women’s record for African pompano, Alectis ciliaris, landed in Georgia by Jennifer Roberts of Springfield, Georgia.
Commissioner of Natural Resources, Mark Williams has announced the appointment of Zachary Harris of St. Simons Island to fill the unexpired term of Superior Court Judge-Elect, Bert Guy on the Coastal Marshlands Protection Committee and Shore Protection Committee. Mr. Harris was appointed by the Board of Natural Resources during their June 29th meeting.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has announced a new women’s state record for king mackerel, Scomberomorus cavalla, landed in Georgia by Jessica Pace of Savannah, Georgia.
