Hours of Operation

Refuge and Visitor Center Hours

The Refuge is open sunrise to sunset seven days a week and is open most federal holidays (closed only on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day). The Visitor Center is open Wednesdays - Sundays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (closed on all federal holidays). Visiting the Refuge is FREE. Please note there is no bus stop near the Refuge and taxi service can be limited or intermittent. Call 303-289-0930 for more information. We hope to see you at the Refuge soon!

    Congratulations to Victoria Samuel! She is the first place winner of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge's Sixth Annual Amateur Photo Contest with her photograph titled Mother's Goodness. Thank you to all photographers that submitted an entry to the photo contest and thank you to the public for your enthusiasm and votes! The top three winners will have their photographs turned into postcards soon and available for sale at Nature’s Nest Books and Gifts located inside the Visitor Center.

  • Black-footed Ferrets at the Refuge

    Since October 2015, 54 black-footed ferrets were reintroduced into the wild at the Refuge. Get a chance to see this endangered and nocturnal animal up close by visiting our black-footed ferret exhibit located a few steps away from the Visitor Center back patio. This free exhibit is open Wednesdays – Sundays from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.
